The Mysterious
Y |

The Y is nothing more than a stem that split into 2 and branched
off in different directions. This is one of the indications of what is
called flowering wood. The
reason people are so excited about Y’d wood is because it means the plant is
going to produce a flower. |

As you can see in these pictures, one side of the leaf is
shorter than the other. This indicates the blooming hormone has become
present and can appear before a Y or just before a bud appears. They can take
on different shapes so check for any uneven leaf with a short stem side. This
is another indicator of flowering wood. |

Once you start seeing the Y’s and asymmetrical leaves, if you
look closely you will see the tiny bud. The Happy Dance is not mandatory but
encouraged. |
